Past Continuous Tense Definition: Past Continuous Tense is used to say that an action was ongoing in the past.

Formula: Subject + Be form (was/were) + ‘ing’ form of verb + object

Examples: a) I was going to college.

b) I was eating a mango.

c) I was calling my friend.

d) They were asking me questions.

Forms:

  1. Affirmative:

a) I was working.

b) You were working.

c) We/ They were working.

d) He/ She/It was working.

2) Negative:

a) I was not working.

b) You were not working.

c) We/ They were not working.

d) He/ She/It was not working.

3) Questions:

a) Was I working?

b) Were you working?

c) Was He/She/It Working.
