Perfect Continuous Present Tense

Definition:

Perfect Continuous Present Tense: Perfect continuous present tense is used when an action started in the past and is continuing now and is likely to continue.

Formula | Structure: Subject + have been/ has been + main verb ing + Object.

Examples:

  • He has been going to college.
  • We have been eating mangoes.

Forms: 

Affirmative: 

a. I have been working.

b. We have been working.

c. We/ They have been working.

d. She/He/It have been working.

Negative: 

a. I have not been working.

b. We have not been working.

c. We/ They have not been working.

d. She/He/It have not been working.

Questions:

a. Have I  been working?

b. Have We been working?

c. Have We/ They been working?

d. Have She/He/It  been working? 

Uses: 

  • For action which began in the past and it still continues.

a. I have been teaching since last 20 years. 

b. He has been working in the field.

c. they have been working the temple.

  • For an uninterrupted function ever though it not continuing now. 

 a. The girls have been playing Badminton.

b. Ganesh has been helping his mother.
